Camera Tracking - choosing position for object to be placed
This exercise involves camera movement unlike exercise 4 which utilised tracking on a moving object with a fixed camera.
- Export video into AE and increase contrast - this helps to create more tracking points.
- Use curves or brightness/contrast
- Motion tracking tab --> Track Camera
- But sometimes track camera FX bypasses the contrast FX, and so pointless therefore after applying contrast precompose the video.
See amount of tracking points below precompose and w/o precompose
- Under advanced settings dropdown, click detailed analysis
- Select tracking points, right click --> Solid & Camera.
- Before exporting this file to Blender, since AE and Blender are incompatible we need to download the JSON script
- After installing, restart AE. Then select all 3 files on composition and then export as JSON file. (in preferences enable scripts).
- This JSON file is simply the tracking data.
Blender
- Delete all items first
- Now we also download a plugin into Blender
- Do NOT unzip the script file.
- Go to preferences > add ons > install disk --- click the zip ae script
- Then we will be able to import the JSON file
- Import the file then delete the vertical plane
- Click [a] to select all objects, to view keyframes. Set starting frame 0 to 1 (move all keyframes).
- Select camera, on background images,
- Import robot file, join objects
